Bangladesh held roughly 25.01 million cattle in FY2023–24, of which about 9.55 million are breedable cows. Milk production has risen steadily from 1.07 million tonnes in FY2019–20 to 1.50 million tonnes in FY2023–24.
Semen dose usage reached about 14.1 million in FY2022–23 across all providers, up from 2.58 million produced by DLS in FY2010–11. National AI coverage is around 70% of breedable cows.
Every dose consumes one sheath, so sheath demand tracks dose volume directly — an addressable market of 14 million units a year and rising. Gloves run higher still, since palpation and pregnancy checking consume them outside the insemination itself.
Provision is split between the Department of Livestock Services, operating around 4,694 AI sub-centres, and private providers including BRAC, ACI Limited, ADL, Lal Teer and Ejab. Livestock contributed 1.80% of national GDP and 16.33% of agricultural GDP in FY2023–24.
